Ryan Cheney

Ryan Cheney is an associate attorney in Kirton McConkie’s International section. He is passionate about serving clients and is dedicated to providing them with thorough, high-quality legal services.

 

Ryan has a strong background and interest in international relations, government affairs, and human rights, particularly religious freedom. He studied and published on these topics while earning his Juris Doctor (2024, 优等生), Master of Public Administration (2024), and Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (2020, 优等生) from Brigham Young University. He also contributed to international legal work and research as a legal intern to the Africa Central Area legal counsel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a research fellow and student management board member of the International Center for Law and Religion Studies. In addition, Ryan traveled to Switzerland and Italy to study public administration and visited Israel and Palestine to study international law and conflict resolution. Ryan has experience serving legal clients in both Spanish and English.

 

Ryan’s professional experience also includes work as a litigation attorney in St. George, Utah, a judicial intern for Judge Ted Stewart of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah, a legal fellow for the BYU Community Legal Clinic, and a law clerk for BYU Continuing Education.

  • Karl N. Snow Academic Award (2024): Granted for earning the highest GPA (4.0) in the BYU MPA program.
  • Ballard Scholar of Social Innovation (2020): Granted for completing coursework and an internship focused on innovative ways of addressing social problems.
