Ross Poulsen is a member of Kirton McConkie’s Tax and Estate Planning section, where his practice focuses on federal, state, and local tax planning and corporate and partnership structuring. He has extensive experience advising clients on transactions such as stock and asset acquisitions, tax-free mergers and reorganizations, dispositions, restructurings, and cross-border transactions.

 

Before joining Kirton McConkie, Ross practiced as a transactional tax attorney in the Washington, DC, office of a large international law firm. Earlier in his career, he served as an assistant to the branch chief in the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel (Corporate), where he drafted rulings, income tax regulations, and other
published guidance on corporate transactions and consolidated return matters.

 

Ross is the lead author of Tax Management Portfolios, Corporate Separations, No. 776-5 and Corporate Acquisitions – D Reorganizations, No. 772-5, a former adjunct professor of taxation at Georgetown University Law Center and George Mason School of Law, and a frequent speaker for professional organizations, including the ABA and DC Bar, on transactional tax topics. He is also an active member of the DC Bar’s Tax Community. In addition to his transactional practice, Ross has maintained a strong pro bono commitment, representing clients in family court and immigration proceedings.
