Matthew W. Jaynes

Matthew Jaynes is a member of the firm’s Litigation section, where he represents clients in a broad range of complex civil litigation matters. His practice benefits from years of legal experience across private practice and federal judicial service. Matt’s litigation experience covers a wide variety of sectors and issues, including representing an NFL football team during a location move, assisting the North American importer for a luxury auto manufacturer trying to prevent a class-action lawsuit, counseling a large insurance company in the aftermath of a data breach, and litigating issues involving large wind energy joint venture disputes.

Directly prior to joining the firm, Matt spent several years in the chambers of United States District Judge David Nuffer at the federal court as a judicial law clerk. In this role, he gained valuable insight into federal litigation on a wide variety of civil and criminal matters.

Matt began his career in commercial litigation in the Dallas, Texas, office of an international law firm working on many matters in both state and federal court. Matt also practiced at a boutique litigation law firm in Dallas before returning to practice in Utah.

During law school, Matt clerked for the Utah Attorney General’s Office in the criminal appeals division, interned at the federal district court for District Judge David Nuffer, and also interned at the Utah Supreme Court for Associate Chief Justice Thomas R. Lee. Matt also gained international experience as a summer legal intern in London, England, spending time learning from both solicitors and barristers.
