Kirton McConkie international business and emerging technology attorney Jonathan Bench recently participated in a featured panel on battlefield innovation at the 47G Zero Gravity Summit, hosted by World Trade Center Utah.
The panel included Ukraine’s Consul General Dmytro Kushneruk and explored how emerging technologies are reshaping modern defense strategy and global security collaboration. Discussion topics included lessons from Ukraine’s rapid cycle of battlefield innovation; the increasing use of small, cost-effective drones and counter-drone systems; and the growing influence of defense technology as one of the fastest-expanding sectors in global investment, second only to artificial intelligence.
Bench noted that the pace of technological change in defense mirrors trends across the broader innovation ecosystem, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors. “This kind of dialogue helps bridge the gap between innovation and implementation,” he said. “It’s where technology, policy, and strategy come together to shape the future of global security.”
The 47G Zero Gravity Summit welcomed leaders from government, industry, and academia to address critical issues in aerospace, defense, and national security innovation.
