Erik R. Hamblin
Erik Hamblin is a member of the firm’s Construction, Real Estate, and Litigation sections with a practice focused on serving the construction and development industry. He has served the Construction Law section of the Utah State Bar in roles as secretary, vice-chair, and chair. He joined Kirton McConkie in 2022 after several years at another prominent Salt Lake City firm representing general contractors, subcontractors, sureties, developers, and other companies and individuals in navigating pre-litigation negotiations, litigation, mediation, arbitration, and trial.
Before law school, Mr. Hamblin managed construction projects for one of Utah’s largest construction contractors in roles as superintendent and project engineer for nearly five years. His hands-on experience working with contractors, owners, architects, engineers, and building inspectors provides insider knowledge to his practice and gives him a deeper understanding into the industry’s unique needs. During law school, he was a judicial intern to Utah Supreme Court Justice Jill N. Parrish.
Mr. Hamblin has successfully resolved disputes involving lien claims, construction defects, contracts, jobsite personal injury, performance bonds, payment bonds, and surety indemnity actions.
In his spare time, Mr. Hamblin enjoys spending time with family, teaching skiing to his children, and occasionally letting them beat him in chess.
